Longhoughton Community and Sports Centre has been awarded the King’s Award for Voluntary Service. There are over 140 volunteers who help to run the centre and its activities. The Parish Council, RAF Beacon and the Longhoughton Rangers Football Club are key partners of the Trust and the volunteers associated with these organisations are all included in the award.
The award recognises the hard work, time, effort, energy and enthusiasm all volunteers offer to our community – thank you. A presentation was held on 16 December 2025. Dr Caroline Pryer, His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Northumberland presented a scroll signed by the King and a glass engraving to commemorate the award in the presence of around 60 volunteers and 40 invited guests. The event was special for Longhoughton and especially the volunteers who have been gladly recognised for the invaluable tasks that they do.
